  1. School administrations and parents play an integral part in the development of our nations children. Consequently, some of our parents lack good parenting skills, if they possess any at all, this is evident in the way these children behave at school or on the streets. I believe our schools can help to improve parenting skills by hosting informative P.T.A meetings that outlines how parents should properly groom their children, things they should or should not do when disciplining their children, morals and standards that they should respect and abide by.

  3. The famous saying "you are not too old to learn"is applicable on a daily basis as a result school should not take for granted that parents know everything. In order to aid in the improvement of parental skill school should implement workshops to foster parental improvement.TO BE COMPLETED!!

  7. Schools help to improve parenting skills in Jamaica due to the fact that teachers play many roles in the classroom of which parenting is one of the vital and most commonly used. If teachers play the role of parents in the classroom will intern help the parents at home due to the level of love, discipline and nurturing which is shown. Due to this they help to mold children which makes it easier at times for parents at home. The teacher also keeps a close relationship with parents which gives parents advice on there parenting roles and skills.

  9. Schools can help to improve parenting skills by giving the parents tips on how to deal with their children, in all circumstances, through the Parents Teachers' Association meetings. The school board can also put on functions and seminars in the community for parents and awarding ceremonies for the student's parents who possesses good parenting skills.
The PTA meetings allows discussions for the behaviour, attitudes and performance of students. The students' emotional and psychological background are also focused on in these meetings.

  11. The school can help to improve parenting skills in Jamaica by getting parents involved in their child/children lives at school through workshops and giving parents advice at regular PTA meetings. There are advantages and disadvantages since parents can be better involved in interactive sessions at school. The problems that might be faced is that some of these Jamaican parents find everything else to do whenever these events are planned and so they are not present to support their child. If parents cooperate this will help to develop good morals and discipline throughout the island

  13. The school is considered a place of higher learning. As such one need to take into action the details and morals taught in school so as to take it into the wider world and make these lessons a life long resource material. The school teaches parental skills in different ways some directly and others are taught indirectly. the school can improve these skills in various ways some of which are mentioned below: through guidance and counseling, through modeling and through parental seminars.
schools can host parental seminars to which they can invite some professionals in the field of parenting to talk to parents about how they can improve their parental skills. As it is seen in our Jamaican society that the level of parenting has declined, it would be necessary for our teachers to model the parental behavior which they would love for the students to adopt and portray as prospective parents. (to be continued)

  14. The school can improve parents skills by teaching them parental values by means of workshops seminars, parents teachers meetings and school activities which involves everyone. Also, counseling session can be put in to play in order to help those who are weak in their parental skills. The implementation of professionals to deal with these issues can be considered.

  15. The school is the key socializing agent in society. It is also true that parents play an integral role in the development of children. It is therefore inevitable that being the two main agents of socialization in society some form of relationship is established between administrators of schools and parents.
Schools can aid parents in improving parenting skills by hosting workshops where parents are given tips on how to improve their parenting skills. School administration can also assist in creating suitable parents by having a special program in secondary schools to teach the ethics of being a good parent.
In order to assist in improving parenting skills it is extremely important that a good relationship is maintained between parents and teachers who are the most influential in the lives of children.
